Paul Thomas Anderson [pɑl ˈtɑməs ˈændɚsən], parfois désigné par l'abréviation PTA, est un scénariste, réalisateur et producteur américain, né le à Los Angeles, dans le quartier de Studio City.
Les films d'Anderson sont souvent des drames psychologiques caractérisés par des représentations de personnages imparfaits et désespérés, des explorations de familles dysfonctionnelles, d'aliénation, de solitude et de rédemption, et un style visuel audacieux qui utilise des plans de caméra en mouvement constant et des plans-séquences. Après ses débuts en tant que réalisateur avec Double Mise (1996), il connaît un succès critique et commercial avec Boogie Nights (1997), et reçoit d'autres distinctions avec Magnolia (1999) et Punch-Drunk Love (2002). Son cinquième film, There Will Be Blood (2007), est souvent cité comme l'un des plus grands du 21e siècle. Il est suivi par The Master (2012), Inherent Vice (2014), Phantom Thread (2017), Licorice Pizza (2021) et Une bataille après l'autre (2025).
