Sir Philip Anthony Hopkins (Port Talbot, 31 dicembre 1937) è un attore britannico naturalizzato statunitense.
Interprete completo con studi di teatro classico con esperienza al Cardiff College of Drama e al National Theatre di Laurence Olivier, pittore e musicista, dopo una lunga gavetta televisiva negli anni settanta partecipa sul grande schermo a diverse trasposizioni di opere classiche fino a ottenere la fama internazionale. Nel 1992 vince il suo primo Premio Oscar al migliore attore protagonista con l'interpretazione di Hannibal Lecter nel film Il silenzio degli innocenti di Jonathan Demme, ruolo che ha ripreso anche nei successivi due film, Hannibal (2001) e Red Dragon (2002). Nel 2021 replica la vittoria grazie alla sua interpretazione in The Father - Nulla è come sembra. Ha ricevuto altre quattro candidature all'Oscar, rispettivamente per Quel che resta del giorno (1993), Gli intrighi del potere - Nixon (1995), Amistad (1997) e I due papi (2019).
